WHO: Lydia and Damon (whatyoumademe)
WHEN: Saturday night
WHERE: A bar
WHAT: Lydia is a brand new woman
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In progress
Lydia laughed silkily, raising her eyebrows at the man. "I think you're trying to get me drunk," she accused, but accepted the second beer with a smile, running her hand through her hair. She had been enjoying learning how to be a modern woman these past few weeks. She was very greatful to Elena for taking her shopping and teaching her what clothes to wear - modern clothes were all so confusing. She had the hang of it now, though, and she was surprised by just how much attention she recieved when she was wearing the new jeans and blouses she'd bought, let alone the short skirts. It had felt uncomfortable at first, but now she was getting used to it and had started feeling comfortable in her own skin again. In fact, she felt better than she ever had.
She missed Damon still, even though she was far too scared to contact him now she knew what she was. The men at the bar were all very friendly, even though they did sometimes look at her inappropriately, but none of them were her husband; the vampire. When Elena had told her, she'd been completely shocked. That Katherine woman had mentioned vampires before, but Lydia hadn't really believed such a thing could exist. To learn she had inadvertently married one was almost too much for her. She was just glad she hadn't said she'd live with him or something. He was a monster and she was well rid of him.
Although she couldn't bring herself to take off the wedding ring just yet.
She laughed again at a joke one of her new male friends was telling, although she didn't actually hear the words, and looked around the little group. There were four men - Joe, Zach, Tom and Karl. She'd seen them here a couple of times and each time they had been lovely and bought her drinks and asked her to sit with them. The first couple of times they'd had women with them, but tonight it was just the men. Lydia didn't mind too much. She'd heard horror stories of what groups of men did to young women like her, but she thought that, after marrying a vampire, four seemingly nice men couldn't be too bad.
It was a moment before she realised she was being spoken to. It was Joe, asking what she was thinking about, seeing as she'd gone quiet all of a sudden. "Oh nothing," she replied with a smile, which the man mirrored. "I was just thinking about home." Joe did have a lovely smile, but his blue eyes just reminded her of Damon's, and that hurt. She took a long drink from her fresh beer bottle so she wouldn't have to talk any more.
