Sydney, too, was dressed in slacks, it had always been her father's idea of 'presentable.' Jeans didn't cut it in the Sage family, and for that reason she hadn't owned any since high school. Apparently, whoever had put clothes in her closet here had been aware of this, as nicer clothes were the only things provided to her. She entertained the thought of getting jeans when she went shopping for clothes--if she was here too long, she would have to soon enough--for now, however, this would do.
She was a little concerned that her style of dress might give Adrian the wrong idea, but there was nothing that could be done about that now. Besides, it wasn't as though he would be interested in anyone right now, he was clearly still hurting after Rose. So she didn't think it would be a problem.
When he entered the coffee shop, dressed up as well, it fed her concern, but only for a moment. She wasn't good at her job by knowing nothing about Moroi society, after all. She knew well that the Ivashkovs were a royal family. If a regular human father could require his girls dress nicely, then a Moroi royal certainly could. Maybe they weren't all that different.
She pushed that thought aside as he slid in across from her. "Little human?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "I could kick your ass, you know." With that, she gestured for a waitress to come by for their drink orders.
