"Yeah, you do deserve that," she said defencively, before looking up at his face again. "But I still probably shouldn't have done it. It was mean..." She sighed, looking awkwardly off to one side. "And seriously, I'm kinda insulted that you think I'm so shallow that I could move on that quickly." She tucked her hands into her jeans pockets. She supposed she should apologise to him for trying to provoke him, but she thought that flirting with some random guy wasn't even on a level with the bad things he'd done.
"Yeah," she said, sounding resigned. "But I was kinda hoping you'd come over and defend my honour or some shit," she said, a little smile creeping across her lips. She finally met his eye again and gave a shrug. "I didn't think you'd just walk away. I can't decide whether I'm happy or sad that you did..."
