Katherine flitted quickly to the door when she heard his knock and had it open before he'd even lowered his hand. She'd left her high heeled shoes off so she was shorter than him by almost half a head but she looked up at him with sympathetic brown eyes. She couldn't deny that part of the reason she'd asked him over here was to help show that she was the better choice, but that adorably little lost puppy look on his face nearly melted her heart.
She took a little step closer to him and reached up to run a hand gently over his cheek. She could smell the whiskey on his breath, but she supposed she couldn't really blame him. She knew how it felt when the truth came out about seeing two people at once. "Oh baby, please don't be sad. You promised me you wouldn't be sad."
