Stefan was shocked to find Katherine on his lap, straddling him, making it near enough impossible for him to run. He had been determined not to enjoy tonight, prove to both her and himself that he didn't enjoy her company, but the truth was that she really could still make him laugh and smile. Besides, he could hardly keep his eyes off her. He couldn't work out whether he was finding her attractive, or whether it was just because he missed Elena like crazy. Katherine had been nice to him these past couple of days, but what did that really mean in the grand scheme of things, after everything she had done?
"Katherine," he said, a frown creasing his forehead. "Stop it. I've told you... it's not going to happen," he said, wishing he felt as certain as he sounded. The truth was, he kind of wanted to kiss her, just to test her theory like she had suggested. If he kissed her and all he could think about was Elena and how he wished it was her, he'd know for certain, but if he felt something... Well, that was the reason he wasn't going to do it. He was too worried that he would feel something for Katherine. That would open up a whole can of worms that he thought he'd put the lid on a very long time ago.
