Meredith let herself get lost in the kisses. It was easier to not think about how hard it was to tell him that she loved him. It made the kisses against her skin more enjoyable. It was natural for Meredith to think things through, but this time she didn't want to and she found it oddly refreshing to just let herself feel.
When their lips met again, Meredith kissed him back as long as it lasted, then when he pulled back and called her beautiful, she paused. The words were at the tip of her tongue. I love you, too, but she still couldn't bring herself to say them. She didn't get why. It was frustrating. Instead, all she could say was, "thank you."
