Henry did not understand how they had come from seemingly different times. He did not understand how he could type on a tiny box with letters and numbers, using that as a means of communication, either. Henry decided to believe her, his anger subsiding but only a little. Well, this certainly spoiled his good news.
"Mary and I are history. We have been for a long time," he finally answered her. "It is you who I want, Anne. But so much has happened, I don't know how to explain it all to you now." His voice was softer; somehow he felt hurt that this Anne did not know of their recent past together, but clearly it was not her fault. He did not know how to handle this. He needed someone to blame.
