Edward felt his fists clench as Jacob described calling his daughter 'evil' and phasing to chase her. But then, Ness had been quite cruel in what she had shown Jacob. It had freaked him out, and even if he didn't want to admit it, scared him a little.
He ran a hand over his face to gain his composure back. He could see everything, clearly laid out, like photos on a coffee table. He stared down at the grass for a few moments, trying to shift through his own feelings, separate them from Jacob's.
Finally he looked back up at the other man, and stood. He walked over and extended a hand. "I don't think that you meant her any harm. And what she did to you was really mean, even if you were wrong for kissing her back. She was lashing out at you," he said reasonably.
