Draco had been waiting impatiently for Pansy to finally reveal what his gifts were. He snuck up behind her as she was in the kitchen, washing up some dishes, and hugged her around the waist. He had grown much more affectionate around her over the past couple of days - it came so naturally to him.
Pansy had finally come to terms with the fact that Draco was well and alive in this world and as long as he was here she was happy. Even if there were two of him, at least they were both alive. Sure one of them was the Draco she'd always know; snarky as always and the other was way more affectionate but it didn't matter. Though she was finding herself more drawn to the Draco she'd been spending time with. Perhaps because he was so lost, that she felt as though it was her right to guide him.
Pansy had loved Draco since sixth year and now with him being so incredibly affectionate, it just seemed to fit into place. "Hey." Smiling to herself as his arms wrapped around her waist she continued with the dishes. "I'm surprised you didn't try to peek in my room." She had told him earlier that night that they weren't going into her room until later, simply because it was where she'd been keeping his gifts.
"I wouldn't cheat like that," he promised, keeping his arms about her. He was determined to annoy her and not let go until she agreed to show him his surprises. "But I will follow you around and be a nuisance until you finally agree to show me what you've gotten me." Draco pressed his face against her shoulder and smiled. He felt like a child on Christmas morning - if he could, in fact, remember any of his Christmases as a child, he imagined this was what they would feel like.
With a roll of her eyes Pansy moved forward, not in an attempt to get away from him but to drain the sink before ringing the dish cloth out and hanging it on the tap. "See now that? That is definitely like you." Draco had always been incredibly persuasive. "I'll show you your presents, but only if you promise not to freak out okay?" She didn't imagine he would but frankly the fact that she had not one, but two, kittens hiding in her room? Could cause some stir out of him, ether way. "It's not anything bad obviously but I doubt my room-mates want to be woken at eleven o clock at night because you got a birthday gift."
"Okay, it's a deal." Draco grinned and released her, watching her every movement. He wondered what they could be if she'd had to ask him to stay calm. He was all for an exciting gift. "I promise not to scream or anything," he teased.
After drying her hands Pansy moved forward with a short laugh. "Oh gosh, if you scream I'm going to seriously question your sexuality darling." It was a light hearted joke of course. Gesturing for him to follow her down one of the two main hallways Pansy stopped in front of her bedroom door for a moment before turning back to him. "Okay. You," She poked his chest lightly. "Need to keep your eyes shut okay? No peeking or you don't get all your gifts." With that she gently grasped hold of his hand and opened her door, slowly ushering him inside.
"I'm going to lead you to the bed okay?" Again she moved slowly before pushing him a little to sit on the bed. Watching him for a moment as her eyes scanned over his features Pansy smiled. "No peeking." She reminded him before she left briefly to fetch the sleeping form of a black kitten, its brother still fast asleep beside it. "Open your eyes." She smiled as she stood in front of Draco, holding the sleeping kitten.
He laughed in a good natured manner at her joke. He knew more than well he was straight. And he was attracted to her. He followed as she indicated and stopped in front of the door, closing his eyes. "Fine. No peeking," he agreed. He waited patiently as he could, which was difficult because he was so tempted to look. When he was finally allowed to open his eyes, he let out a short gasp at the sight before him. Draco held out his arms to take the kitten. It was positively the cutest thing he could remember... even if that wasn't saying a lot, but it was still very cute.
Pansy beamed back at him as he took the kitten from her grasp. "I thought you might like him." She nodded to the far corner of her room where she'd made a makeshift bed for the two kittens. "The white one is for your counterpart. They're brothers." She was rather proud of herself in getting the two kittens for the Draco's. She knew back home that Draco's family had two dogs, though they were mostly Lucius's and besides, Draco had always had a soft spot for cats in general. "He's not the only gift I have for you though."
Draco snuggled the kitty in his arms, leaning his face down so they could touch noses and smiled like an idiot. "I love him. Does he have a name already?" he inquired. "There's more?" His eyes widened. "I think you've already done pretty well." He chuckled and looked back at her in an adoring sort of way. It was difficult not to look at her like that.
Merlin! He was so bloody cute it was nearly breath-taking. "Nope, you get to name him." Shaking her head Pansy shifted her weight as she stood before him, watching him swaddle the kitten. "Awee, how can I not spoil you?" Arching a brow she leaned forward to press a kiss to Draco's cheek.
"It's not everyday you turn eighteen." Adding that in Pansy moved over to her desk and pulled out the same trunk she'd stored the photo album and her wand in from the other night. "You don't have to close your eyes for this." Pulling out a slender box before setting it down and pushing the trunk back into place Pansy stood, grasping the box once more. "This, I think, will help you a lot whilst here." Handing the box to him she sat down beside him, watching him intently(done)
"Hmm. I'll have to think of a good name. Something unique for him," Draco pondered aloud, setting the kitten down. He promptly started to play with Draco's shoelaces, bringing another grin to Draco's face. He took the box gingerly from her and opened it, taken aback when he saw what was inside. His own wand! And it was so... decorative and beautiful. The snake was a nice touch. "I... thank you." He was stunned by how thoughtful both these gifts were. The kitten would be nice for keeping him company when Pansy couldn't, and he definitely wanted to try out the wand. After he had finished studying it, he set the box down gently and pulled Pansy into a tight hug, the kitten still batting at his shoelace.
Leave it to Draco Malfoy to want a unique name for his pet. "You could just call him kitty for the next month, I don't think he'd mind." Laughing softly Pansy continued to study Draco's features as he opened the box. He was clearly pleased which in result pleased Pansy to the fullest. "You're welcome." She managed moments before he pulled her against him in a tight embrace. "I reckon you like it then, yeah?" Of course she already knew the answer. "Happy Birthday Draco."
Draco laughed. "I'll call him Kitty for a day or two until I think of something better." Pulling away from her, he looked into her eyes and smiled again. "I do like the gifts, very much. This is very kind of you." He kissed her cheek. "Thank you."
"Kitty it is! For now anyways." His eyes could make her melt in a matter of second and so she looked away after a moment, blushing a little. "You're very welcome Draco." Technically they had ten minutes until he was officially eighteen, but that didn't matter for the time being. Shifting on the bed beside him her eyes looked back down at the kitten who was now awake, still playing with Draco's laces. "He's awfully cute isn't he?"
"Yes," Draco agreed, looking down at Kitty. "Very playful. Does someone like my shoes, hmm?" he said to the kitten, reaching down to scratch him behind the ears. "I don't understand why some people don't like cats. I think they're better than dogs," he added after a thoughtful moment.
"You've always felt like that." She informed him with a soft smile. "I definitely think he's taken a liking to you, which serves well doesn't it?" Watching the kitten a little long Pansy's lips continued to hold their smile. Falling back against the bed she stared at the clock on her night stand table noting the time; twelve fifty five AM. "I'm glad you like your presents. It took me forever to find that wand. I honestly didn't think I could find one here but apparently they sell everything here."
"It does." He was happy that the kitten seemed to like him already. It would be so nice to have his own pet. He wondered if he'd had any before his memory loss, but he supposed he didn't since Pansy mentioned nothing of it. "That's handy. I've heard the shops are good. Still, I wouldn't know where to go to look for these things."
"Honestly I hadn't paid any mind to them until a few days ago when I was looking. A pet store is easy enough to find, it's like a giant flashing sign. Honestly, everyone's got a little fuzzy companion now." Laughing softly she stretched out against her bed with a sigh.
Draco laughed too. The kitten was pawing at his leg, as if wanting to climb up him. "Is he okay, coming onto the bed too?" Draco asked after a moment. It seemed polite to ask, since people didn't always welcome pets on furniture.
"Oh of course." Pansy shifted to sit up, pushing herself all the way up to the head of the bed. "Just have to make sure once we go to sleep that one of us puts him back with his brother. I'd hate to spend the night not getting any sleep in fear of moving and hurting the little thing."
"That makes sense." He offered Pansy another smile before picking the kitty up and putting him on the bed to let him wander around and check things out. He watched in fascination for a while as the kitten randomly spazzed out, darting from one end of the bed to the other and chasing wrinkles in the sheets. "Spunky little thing, huh?" Draco turned back to Pansy and laughed. A little pause and then he added, "I like it here. With you. It's easy to be happy here, and not afraid."
His smile along with those eyes were truly going to be the death of her. She'd dealt with it all through out school but now that they were one on one like they had been at his Manor? It was different. Perhaps it was because she'd witnessed him die and now she took everything in stride and treasured it. "
"Oh yeah. OH! You could name him spunky" Laughing softly Pansy tugged a little at the sheets, causing the kitten to stop in his tracks before darting across the bed as the sheets moved. "Yeah?" She could feel her cheeks heating up again to signal a blush creeping across her fair features. "I like it when you're here." Pansy admitted softly, catching his gaze. "I was alone for two years so being here with you... it's comforting."
Draco considered. "You know, that's not a bad name. Spunky." He held up the kitty and looked at him. "Do you like that? I'm going to call you Spunky from now on." He looked at her in wonder when she confessed that she had been alone for such a long time. It seemed like something she didn't want to talk about, so he decided not to push her. "I'm glad I can be here now to make you feel better. I feel like... I feel like I'd do anything for you," he admitted. It was the truth.
Spunky definitely suited the kitten. "I think he'll settle into that name just fine." Nodding to herself she studied the kitten in Draco's hands for a moment before shaking her head. She really needed to learn how to control her blush. "I.." Biting her lip a little Pansy let out a small nervous laugh. "I didn't expect you to say that."
Her eyes checked the clock once more, happily noting that it had just struck midnight. It signaled that it officially was Draco's eighteenth birthday. Moving on the bed until she settled beside him Pansy watched him, her eyes catching his gaze before looking to his lips and back to his gaze. "Happy Birthday Draco." Her words came out soft whispers. Slowly Pansy leaned forward and pressed her lips to his, kissing him for what felt like the first time.
Draco didn't know what sort of person he had been before, but he gathered he hadn't been nearly this open. He wondered why. "Well, I mean it," he replied, putting Spunky down in his lap. The look in her eye was somewhat mysterious and very alluring when she turned back to him after viewing the time on the clock. He didn't have time to utter a 'thank you' before her lips were against his. Draco kissed her back enthusiastically, finding that that came naturally to him as well. Pansy was remarkable... it was difficult to believe she was his. Even if she hadn't declared herself his, it was implied in a lot of the things she did for him.
