When Stefan spoke, Katherine dropped his hand and turned to look at him, surprised at what awaited her there. Her expression probably showed as much as she took the flowers. They would have made her feel better, except that he didn't know what she had to say yet. He still might not want to be with her once she told him that she couldn't change who she was for him. "Thank you, Stefan," she told him, giving him a smile. "They're beautiful." She walked the rest of the way to her room, laying the flowers on her desk once she got in there, then walked over to the bed.
Her eyes studied him as he walked into the room. The past few months with him had been incredible. Was it all about to come crashing down? "Have a seat," she told him. Some might wonder how she kept her voice calm when she was so nervous, but after so many years of being emotionless, it was easy to hide her emotions.
