Damon had kept in mind everything the older Stefan had told him about the future--about Katherine--and he had honestly thought over it quite a bit, but in the end, he couldn't stop feeling for the woman what he had been feeling ever since she showed up to stay with his family. A hopeful part of him thought that maybe it would all be different for him. Maybe he wouldn't live the life Stefan had said he would, but then again...all the other versions of himself hadn't experienced anything but, it seemed. Oh well, he couldn't back out now. He had promised to "rescue" Katherine and he was still determined to do so like a perfect gentleman.
He slipped on one of the coats from his closet and headed off in search of her apartment. The walk had given him more time to think and he tried to guess what Katherine's reaction might be after he told her about all the stories he had heard from his brother. But he deserved answers for her behavior, answers straight from her mouth. Didn't she owe him that much? He loved her, after all, he wanted to turn for her. He had a sudden nervousness after that thought though. Becoming a vampire wasn't what he thought it would be, not if he was destined to be miserable for a century and a half. Destined to become a monster. Damon shook back the thought as he arrived at the door, sighing and licking his dry lips. He knocked.
