Hannibal was deeply impressed by the technology of this place, primarily that of the laptop in his room. He had carried it around and discovered that it worked anywhere in the building, and now he sat in the lobby writing a letter on the word processing program. It was a letter to his parents. They were long dead, but he wrote to them regularly. Hannibal didn't count on them being able to hear him, but it felt nice to address them like they would.
He wrote to them about the laptop, telling them about how he could pull up a screen with a little box on it, and type anything in the box, and millions of results would pop up. It was better than a library. Hannibal wondered when this tool had been invented, and gathered from it that he had somehow been transported into the future. It was a shame; it would have been nice to have something like this while he was completing his studies. He wondered if there was a medical school he could get into here. It looked as though he had been brought to stay and thought he should make the most of it.
Hannibal looked up from the screen occasionally to watch the people who came and went. He didn't know anyone, but was used to being alone in life. He was a quiet person by nature. Lady Murasaki had been his only desirable company recently. Now even she did not want anything to do with him anymore. Not after watching him brutally kill Grutas. Hannibal still loved her but knew it was best to give up hope on ever having his feelings returned. He was mostly excellent at keeping his emotions under control, except the ones involving his family. And Mischa. Mischa especially.
Mischa. M for Mischa.
He gave up on the letter for the moment and decided just to sit back and watch. People watching was one of his favorite pastimes, and this seemed like just the place to do it.
