Stefan saw the slight protrusion of her lower lip that meant she was upset and gently shook his head, giving her a reassuring smile. "It's okay," he told her as he wrapped his arms back around her, rubbing her back gently. "We'll find someone to invite you in later." He didn't know what the rules concerning werewolves in a dwelling were, whether they counted as human or not, but if he could Stefan was sure Tyler Lockwood wouldn't leave Elena standing outside. At least, he sincerely hoped he wouldn't.
Stefan looked down at her, his green eyes searching her big, brown ones. He was still smiling softly, trying to be encouraging and reassuring. He knew everything must be feeling so strange to her at the moment. Softly, he leaned in and brushed his lips against her cheek. He still hadn't decided what the right thing to do, regarding the Elenas, was so for now he played it safe.
After a moment he released her and bent down to pick up the small bag of her things. There wasn't much and he carried it across the apartment quickly, tucking it inside his bedroom door before hurrying back to Elena at the front door. "Right," he said, definitely. "No point hanging around in the corridor." He slipped an arm around her shoulder, more just to be close to her again but also to lead her away from the apartment as he let the door shut behind them. "Are you ready then?" he asked, looking down at her. He smiled broadly. "Got your travel toothbrush?"
