She shook her head as she met his eyes, a soft smile playing over her lips while she watched him. "I wouldn't want to live without my mate either," Elena murmured in the darkness, knowing he had heard. She buried her head against the little creature's soft fur, whispering an 'I'm sorry' before holding the animal up to give it another tiny kiss on the nose. With that, she quickly ended its life. She was thankful in a strange way, for what the animal was giving her and a part of her hoped that the little rabbits had had the chance to have babies.
Elena showed her fangs then ever so gently bit into the animal as though it was still alive. She closed her brown eyes as she drank, humming happily as soon as the warm blood had hit her system, nourishing her. She was so glad to live like this instead of going after people, she just couldn't imagine hunting like that... But eventually she would have to learn to conquer those cravings, the ones for fresh blood from a human. Until then, she was happy hunting in the forest with Stefan. It only helped to strengthen their relationship.
