WHO: Chloe Wagtail & Tanner Higgs
WHAT: An injured and out of it Tanner is bored, and Chloe comes to visit him.
WHERE: Hospital Wing.
WHEN: Saturday!
WHY: Because why not?
RATING: TBD
STATUS: Closed/incomplete.

Tanner had been in intense pain several hours ago. Now he was fairly sure there were more potions than blood running through his veins, especially since he'd been told he had internal bleeding due to his broken ribs. He still felt woozy, and tired, and irritable all at once. He hated fucking bludgers and Ravenclaw, and MacMillan and Davies, and basically the whole of the team. He also still felt dull throbs of pain, despite the medication. He hated the way it felt as if his head was in a bit of a bubble head charm.

At least Chloe was coming to see him. Although, he had to admit he hoped he didn't fall asleep again. Apparently he'd been out for hours, and he'd hate to have a repeat performance during her visit. At least it wouldn't be boring. Chloe was never boring, and he'd known her for years, being in the same house. Of course, they hadn't always talked; they'd run in different circles. Tanner wasn't a complete bigot. The last year or so had been different though, and he was glad she was coming. Not only because the hospital wing was duller than Professor Binns.

He heard the door creak open, and he leaned his bandaged head up a bit to see who it was. When Chloe came in a lazy smirk came across his face.

"'lo. Thanks for coming."

Chloe opened the door to the infirmary, eyes quickly seeking out Tanner in the middle of the room. His head was bandaged, and it looked like he was still sleeping, but then he talked, and a small smile graced her lips as she entered the room completely. Nurse Hiddlebottom had told Chloe in a very stern voice that if Tanner was asleep - like he apparently had been most of the time since the game - she would have to leave again. But here Tanner was, awake and welcoming her.

She nodded in greeting and walked over to his bed. "You look horrible," she said, smirking slightly (while trying to fight the urge to ask if he would be okay), as she pulled the chair closer to Tanner's bed and sat down. She leaned back in the seat, making herself as comfortable as one could in the infirmary wing.

Tanner chuckled a bit, and then immediately stopped. That laughing business was a horrible idea at the moment. He coughed a bit, and didn't bother to smile this time. His eyebrow quirked up. "I hope your punishment isn't to tell me how unpretty I am at the moment."

He studied her as she sat there, and wondered what punitive measure she actually did have in mind. For some reason she was non-threatening and intriguingly capable at the same time, at least in his mind.

She frowned as he coughed, uncertain if she should call Nurse Hiddlebottom, but figured that if it was something bad, the nurse would already be here. The bed was probably covered with spells that would inform her about Tanner's health.

The punishment she had promised him had been forgotten until he mentioned it. She wanted badly to come up with some kind of funny yet very Slytherin-like punishment than the one she had originally thought of, but all she could do was stare at him, eyes narrowing a bit as she thought about it. "Actually," she finally admitted, "your punishment was that I would never speak to you again, but obviously that went out the window as I'm sitting here now talking to you."

Her head tilted to the side as she smiled, glad that she didn't blush easily. Instead, she managed to keep her cool, and rather than being embarrassed by the lack of a proper Slytherin punishment, she just shrugged. "Guess I'll have to rethink that one," she said, smirking softly.

"Obviously," Tanner stated, turning his head slightly to engage in the conversation. However most of the words in his mind were becoming easily muddled. "I could get you to talk, I bet." The smirk still lingered on his mouth as he said this.

He thought of some of the ways he could have gotten her to speak to him. Rather amusing, actually. He was still surprised by her answer, no promises of poison or cursing his family, or bludgers, as they were the worst possible thing on planet Earth that he could think of.

He mumbled something that sounded similar to, "Thanks for going to that excuse for a game."

She couldn't help but smile at his confidence. He probably could have gotten her to talk to him eventually. Just as stubborn Chloe could be, just as forgiven she could also be. And there was just something about Tanner that made her feel all... well, different.

"Mm," she murmured thoughtfully and leaned back in her seat, one leg crossed over the other as her arms crossed over her chest. "It was a waste of time, going to that game," she said with a hint of a smile. "I'm severely disappointed. You promised me a win." Well, he sort of had, anyway. Chloe wasn't a big Quidditch fan, but she had house pride, and Slytherin loosing to Ravenclaw was definitely not something she liked very much.

She gazed at Tanner, who looked like he was about to pass out from all the potions he had probably been given. "You look tired."

He liked that she had wasn't afraid to play back. As nice as he found girls that were modest and quieter, and he really did, and knew Chloe was both of those as well; he found girls that were timid to be a bit hard to communicate with.

"Next time," Tanner said, but his forehead was crinkled as if he disbelieved his own words. As if there wouldn't be a next time or they wouldn't win. He did have to admit for a house built on being driven, they lost at Quidditch more than they should.

"I'm...mixed up. Body feels tired. Mind is everywhere though. It's a right bore down here."

He looked over at the more gregarious Ravenclaw side of the dungeons. He rolled his eyes. "Tell me something. Anything. A distraction."

Tanner, however, didn't look all that convincing, so to lighten the mood, Chloe leaned forward and asked, "Is that a promise?" The corner of her lips twisted into a smirk.

Her eyes followed his gaze to the Ravenclaws before they drifted back to rest on Tanner again. Her head tilted to the side as she looked at him, wincing slightly as if she was the one currently lying in the bed in pain and with a tired body.

A distraction? "Megan told me to wear a nurse outfit," she said, the first thing coming into her mind. And then she paled, because that was so not what she had wanted to use as a distraction. The weather or maybe something inside info about The Weird Sisters, but the nurse outfit? No, definitely not. She cleared her throat. "So, ready for the OWLs?"

Tanner locked eyes with her a moment, before trying to shake his head slightly against the pillow. "I promise to play well. You'd have to ask the rest of the team though."

Conveniently, he thought, most of them were here. At least they didn't have to play anyone too soon.

Tanner's eyebrows flew up quickly, until he reminded himself that being so easily readable wasn't one of his life goals.

"Why didn't you?"

The idea of her in a nurse outfit was... it was more interesting than most of the things that were running in his brain right now. Most centering around killing Roger Davies, eating his weight in food, or sleeping. Chloe was pretty. He'd always known that... he wasn't sure what to do with the lurch in his stomach at the thought of her dressing up.

"Well, I was ready for them last year when I took them. How do you feel about them?"

Chloe just rolled her eyes at his question. First, because she was no girly girl and playing dress up was a girly girl thing to do, and second because... well, at the moment she had no other reasons. But still, she wondered if Tanner would have appreciated something like that, wondered if maybe Megan had been right.

Instead, she decided to focus on the OWLs and inwardly cringed that she had manged to forget about Tanner already taking those stupid OWLs. She tried to play it cool though, and laughed, smirking as she leaned forward. "Does that mean you can help me study for them?" After all, they were friends and he had already taken his so why not ask, right?

His head was in no state to keep up with the questions that went unanswered. At least, it wasn't at the moment, so instead he continued taking her in. For some reason going from dress-up to OWLs seemed like going from something highly personal to something highly mundane, though his brain couldn't figure out exactly why.

"Hmm, well, you did say I could miss out on torture for breaking my promise. I think helping you study would make it even, wouldn't it?"

He grinned. "Are you having trouble at anything?"

He often forgot that Chloe was younger than him.

Chloe couldn't help but smile at that. Truth be told, she didn't have much trouble in any of her subjects, but she wanted to spend some more time with Tanner, and she had no idea how else to go about it. Asking him straight out if he wanted to spend time with her was out of the question, that was for sure.

"Potions?" she said, though it came out more as a question. She didn't know if Tanner knew about how well she did in that subject, but Potions was usually a subject most found hard, so it was the one she thought sounded most believable.

"Potions," he repeated, leaning back and glancing at her. He could have sworn that she had mentioned something about liking Potions at some point, but he wasn't exactly in the best mental state to start questioning her academic weaknesses. "I can try." After all, he wasn't exactly taking them for his last two years.

Thank Merlin he didn't have the N.E.W.T.s this year.

Tanner looked at her a bit. He really liked her hair, all dark and shiny... he shook his head to relieve himself of the thoughts that were going through his head. His mouth felt too loose, and he wasn't sure what he was capable of saying.

"Are you musical like your parents?" He wasn't sure what made him ask it. Except he didn't really know her that well in the scheme of things... perhaps it was the hair.

She couldn't help but smirk a little at that, pleased that her plan had worked. Well, sort of. He said he would try, and he could technically still change his mind.

She leaned back in the chair she was sitting on, fingers playing with the hem of her school skirt when he suddenly asked her about her musical abilities. She had expected some sort of question from him, though nothing at all like this. Yet, it made her feel a bit happy, that... well, she couldn't really put words on it, just that it made her feel happy.

"A little," she said, nodding. "I'm not as good as Megan though, but I can sing." She smiled.

"Modesty," he smirked. It wasn't always the most practiced of virtues in the noble house of Slytherin. "Maybe I'll hear you sometime."

The truth was that Tanner knew Chloe had a twin, but other than that he didn't really recall much about the girl. Except she was blonde, where Chloe was brunette, and she was Hufflepuff. Some men were all about twins... but, he never thought much on it.

"So what are you better at, then?"
