Gabby - Battling Bard of Potidaea ([info]bardictraveller) wrote in [info]labyrinth_rpg,
The odd black book that she didn't understand, she set aside on the desk. It looked like the sort of language she enjoyed, actually, full of epic stories. And she had no way of knowing that it was the same book found in motel rooms all over earth of the 20th century. To her, it was just an interesting book. She turned her attention back to her best friend, however, as Xena rolled over to face her.

"Okay. I'll look around a bit, then." She was good at that sort of thing, especially the parts with talking to other people to get more information. She enjoyed it, and actually found herself looking forward to the adventure. Sure, it was crazy, but Xena was by her side and that was good enough. The would get through this together, as they had gotten through everything else. "I'll start tomorrow."

Gabrielle continued to sit on the bed, facing Xena, but pulled her legs up onto the bed so she was perched cross-legged. She looked at her friend thoughtfully. "You know, I bet I could write a really great epic poem about us going through the labyrinth." The idea appealed to her, obviously, by the smile on her face. "Can you imagine? Xena and Gabrielle brave the labyrinth! Daring escapes! Harrowing fights! Cunning riddles!" She thought for a moment. "I hope all that stuff is in there, though, or else it's going to be harder to write."

For a second, she didn't know what Xena was talking about. But finally, she clued in. "Oh, this?" She held up the journal. "I don't know, really. I haven't looked yet. It seems to be an empty..." She opened a page and frowned. "No, wait! It was empty, but now there's writing in it!" She held it up for inspection.
