Adam hadn't entirely figured out why he'd been kidnapped. Oh, there were lots of people who wouldn't be upset if he disappeared, but no one had killed him. The only one who'd died was that young, newly-bitten werewolf. And, he was sure he'd taken out some of the people who had come for him, which he'd taken a certain grim satisfaction in. Other than that, it was all a puzzle, and he didn't like things that didn't make sense. It offended him. If things were going to be done, they should be done for a reason.
What infuriated him more was when they brought his daughter, Jesse, in, and he couldn't do anything to help her. He was so drugged he could barely see straight, could barely make his eyes focus, but he'd recognize his daughter's scent anywhere. And he was caught, chained up with silver chains, helpless. If anything had ever been intolerable, this was it. Drugs weren't supposed to work on werewolves, but apparently, someone hadn't gotten that memo.
But someone had made a mistake. He didn't know how or why, but no one had been in to tranquilize him for several hours. He could feel the haze of the drugs wearing off. This was good. Despite the crippling interference of the silver, he flexed his muscles. He would be ready, and he would find a way out of this. The door opened, and a guard he recognized came in. This one was particularly mean, took pleasure in hurting him. Well, the tide was turning. His smile was almost a snarl, and a low growl left his throat. It took a lot to make him lose his temper, but kidnapping him, and more important, his daughter would definitely do it.
It seemed to him that he just closed his eyes for a second, just to blink, and everything changed. The chains were gone, and he was free. But he was also in the middle of an amusment park, and that just didn't make any sense. Had he fallen asleep? But he didn't see how that was possible. Hallucinating from the drugs? Maybe, but it felt like they'd mostly worn off. Large, dark eyes narrowed, and he looked around. The first person he saw, he was going to get some answers out of.
