Gabrielle was pleasing to the eye, but his heart still clung to Marian. He gave her a return smile, though his was more hesitant. "Greetings." He reached back with his free hand and was glad to find that the quiver of arrows and his bow were still slung in the appropriate place. At least he wasn't without protection. As Gabrielle took the time to glance around, Robin did the same one more time. It seemed that there were suddenly people there that hadn't been there before, but their number hadn't increased. Perhaps his glance had just gone past them the first time.
He saw a woman with strawberry red hair, dressed in something akin to what he would expect a Queen or noble from his time to wear. She was pretty, but looked a little perturbed. He couldn't help a fleeting smile as his gaze moved on to take in a dark haired girl in more strange clothing and a rather sour looking young man. These people were strange, and he was glad that the one he was speaking to now seemed, if not more ancient than himself, at least from around the same time period.
He couldn't judge where the man in the overcoat was from, but he looked forlorn. Robin supposed he probably had a similar look, especially if he thought too hard about what would happen to the poor people who'd be hung without him there to set them free. And Marian, of course, was always in his thoughts. He couldn't seem to shake her from his mind, not since she'd come to see him in the forest. It seemed like ages now, but it had only been a few days.
When Gabrielle spoke again, Robin glanced down. She was quite short, but then again, he was used to short women. "I'm Robin." He returned his name after she gave hers, though he really ought to have been the gentleman and offered his first. He held out his hand, requesting hers to kiss, as he did all women he met. "I am not certain of our location, but I have never seen it before. It is quite foreign to me." He followed her gaze to the place Jareth had vacated and where now stood his goblin. He'd never seen a creature like it before, and if he wasn't dreaming, he was certainly nowhere like home.
"Yes, I think he was telling the truth." He lifted a shoulder in a half shrug and turned back to her. "I cannot conceive of this place being a lie." He gestured all around them. It seemed real to him, even if it was surreal at the same time.
