Dani felt pretty good after speaking with Seven last night. It seemed as if he considered her an asset to the circus. That was pretty cool! To belong somewhere after so many years on the run for one reason or another it felt good to be able to say she could call someplace home. She was even looking forward to talking to Adelaide about the burlesque show idea. Whatever power that wanted her here may have actually done her a favor. Maybe, for the first time since her mom died, things were looking up for her.
Over the weekend she had done some shopping. Basic necessities, but she also wanted to see what she could do with her little home. There hadn’t been much to find. Tuesday had been right about that. But it wasn’t hopeless. Dani had come home with some fabric to work with, a few items to spruce up the place, but the real find that she’d been pleased with was some powdered henna. Flitting back and forth between Bergamot and JD’s Herbal Apothecary and Supplies managed to score her some eucalyptus and ravensara oil, some black tea and lemon. Eager for something familiar, she started the paste recipe immediately. This morning it was ready, and she was sitting on the steps outside of her house drawing mehndi patterns on the tops of her feet. The greenish paste was cold as it came out of the pastry tube she was using, but she didn’t care.
There was still plenty of time before the circus opened for the day. She had a banana and some yogurt on the small porch next to her along with a huge cup of strong coffee, her breakfast for the day in lieu of going to the common tent for something more filling. It had been a long time since she’d decorated her skin like this, and she was enjoying the peace it brought to her mind. So it was with a smile on her face that she looked up when she heard someone walking by.
“Good mor-“ until she saw who it was. Then her smile hesitated into something more wary. “Oh. Hi, Draco.”
