Who: Jax – Narrative When: Week Thirteen; Sunday March 1st – About noonish Where: Grove Park Summary: Jax is running off some aggression Warning: Could be some foul language.
Jax tilted his head up to the sky and watched a single cloud pass by. It was clear and sunny today, which was great. A high of fifty-seven degrees was good, too. Jax could care less about the weather. Rolling his neck to try to loosen the tension, it cracked a few times and then finally released. With a sigh, he started to jog down the sidewalk away from the pack apartments and towards the park.
With his Ipod strapped to his arm, earbuds screaming music in his ears, the moment he hit the park he broke into a full run, not supernatural fast but human, his feet hitting the ground with the beat of the music. He was trying to run his aggression out, to get rid of the tension he’d been feeling for the past couple of weeks.
Everything had hit at once. First he and Lily started to spend less time together, then Conor came into town and the next thing he knew there was talk of him being Alpha. Then the fires started happening and Jab’s got hit and a bad fire took out a back portion of the gym. Without notice, Lily and he were breaking up and then just yesterday was the pack meeting where Brian stepped down from being Alpha and Conor stepped up.
He’d met with Conor when it had just been rumors, though he knew that it wasn’t just rumors. Brian had said it was true and it would be the best thing to do; the pack needed an experienced Alpha that could get them through the trials of Rinth, he wasn’t up to the task. Jax had thought it a bad thing. Brian had opened the pack to all were’s, what would happen if Conor wanted only wolves?
His hands clenched into tight balls as he ran, muscled strained as he went further into the trees and pushed himself faster. Conor’s intent was to keep the pack the same, Jax would share the Beta position with Brian, which was fine by him but now they were led by a man that no one knew.
This was made evident yesterday, as he was pulled aside a few times and asked what his real opinion was of the situation and if he actually fully backed the new Alpha.
Yes, Conor had made the rounds and had made himself available to all pack members but that didn’t mean they knew him. You didn’t learn someone over a matter of days. Jax had fielded the questions and had answered honestly. Yes, he backed the Alpha. Why? Because Brian and Arden felt it was best, and that if they believed in their past Alpha’s and this is what they wanted then they should believe in their new Alpha.
People had started to relax, especially after he assured them he was going nowhere and would be at Conor’s side just as he had been at Brian’s side.
Brian had done what needed to be done yesterday. He’d welcomed the new Alpha, and he had meant it. It was a change he did not exactly like but it was not a reflection on Conor; Jax just did not like change. He was honest about liking Conor well enough and he was sure the man would make a great Alpha for the pack. It had just been a really bad week for Jax.
When it had been safe enough for Jax to leave the gathering, he had. Not too early, he’d stayed long enough that when he did leave it would not be thought of as rude or him not being agreeable. He had other things to attend to in which he had whispered in Conor’s ear; he needed to try to see Lily again.
He’d gone to her house, knocked on her door, and found that the house was empty. When had she left? When they had broken up it had been via text. Had she left before Rinth had decided to lock its doors and let no one out that knew of the supernatural? Or had Rinth snatched her up like it had a few a while back? He’d ran through the house, looked for some evidence of where she was gone and found nothing.
A growl broke through his lips as he ran, a snarl shaping them. He had thought there was something special between them, something that he hadn’t had in a long time. And now she was gone. Just…gone.
How in the hell did Conor keep it all in? He knew the man had left wife and son behind as well as a whole pack. How did he not just lose his shit? He came to a stop, breathing hard, and clenching and unclenching his fists. Then, without thought, he took a swing at a nearby tree, then another. Hit after hit the tree took, bark splintering off, his knuckles being sliced open as he left blood in the indention he was making. After a little while he slid to the ground and sat with his back against the tree. He needed to suck it up. His Alpha would need him to be strong. He took a few breaths and then tried to let it all go. He still had his family here, the pack…at least he had that. The gym would reopen soon.
