Dr. Carre thought a moment. "It is terrible how the people suffer for lack of the most basic things. Today, one of my patients suffered an appendicitis. I only hope that he is strong enough to survive even so basic a surgery, and I doubt he'd have become ill at all were it not for the odd things that people are eating simply not to starve."
