"She said do not be afraid, and she wants to pass you off as one of her grandsons. She says that she will get him to apply for new papers, that his were lost. He will give you the old ones and leave the city. You will assume is identity here."
She turned to speak to Marie.
"I'm not just going to let you take him. I want to know he's alright. That he's safe. I took your help because I don't know what I'm doing, not because I'm not willing or committed." she said firmly. She wanted Marie to know, just in case, that she'd be checking up. It made her feel better. Like she had some control over things, even though the truth was that things were spiraling very much out of control.
