Fancy stood stock still. She felt more than one pair of eyes on her and looked up to catch the gaze of some of her employees. She glared back at them and they all turned sheepishly back to what they were doing.
And then there was Marie. No, she couldn't see a cat that wasn't there and she very well knew it wasn't a cat. Oh you wanted to help the Resistance did you? Humph what the hell were you thinking?! You can't do this, you're not smart enough for this. Not skilled enough either. The one time the lies really mean something and you can't pull them out of a hat to save you. Or wose, to save Charlie.
She turned to Marie and opened her mouth in preparation to speak. It didn't matter what she said now. They were all excuses. And taken to any German officer, several of whom were already in the building, they would be tearing the place apart. No, lying wasn't enough, words weren't enough.
