So! As some have you have likely noticed, there’s something going down. It’s a bit complicated so I’m putting it under a cut. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to email me (trfrcguardian@hotmail.com) or poke me on a web messenger (aim: angelpadawan; msn: see email; yim: amazonpaladinlady)
First off, I suggest reading Zi’s history, found here. I tried to keep it as short as possible but make it complete enough so hopefully no one will be too confused. That said, here’s what’s going on.
Back in the day, in Zi’s world of the Jade Empire (which is like a version of Ancient China) her kind were wiped out ages ago by the Emperor Sun Ki and his brothers (The only one we care about is Sun Li). They did this because they wanted to get to the physical/mortal form of the Water Dragon. The water dragon is a god in that world. She controls, surprise, water (which includes droughts/floods/rains/etc) but also oversees that spirits pass over to the next world and are reborn. Sun Ki kills the water dragon and takes her heart and her body back to the heart of the empire. There he uses it to end the drought (bleeding the water dragon’s body by use of magic and machinery). He uses the heart of the water dragon to attempt to take her place.
Sun Li wanted that power though, so while they were attacking Zi’s people, he launched a failed attack on his brother. He fled in shame, but not before stealing Zi away from the monk who had rescued her from certain death. He raised her as his own, clueless to reality of what’s really going on. As the world falls apart because the Emperor has nor real idea of the water dragon’s power, Zi has to step up and set things right by defeating him. She does so after lots of adventures, yada yada, she kills the emperor and everything should be dandy, right? Wrong.
Li kills her, takes her amulet [which she was using as a focus for her power] and the heart of the water dragon. With both, he’s able to drain the powers much, much faster. This is where KSU comes in. While he’s got these godly powers, he senses Zi alive and well in our time/place. The Water dragon has connections with all of the spirit monks (which is what Zi is) and since she’s the only one left she kinda sticks out like a big neon light. So, he’s trying to reach into this world thinking she’s trying to get to him. Now, he doesn’t realize he’s dead yet in our time, but when he does he’s obviously not going to be happy.
His interference is already causing some issues. This is “seen” in disappearances increasing (cannibals) and ghost attacks/activities increasing. Zi is doing her best to fight the latter, as she really doesn’t have the time just yet to realize the former is due to her old ‘friends’.
Later on, once Li realizes what’s going on, he’s going to start looking for Zi and her amulet. By then, hopefully, the amulet will be broken and the pieces will have been given to 3 people (Jack Harkness, Jo Harvelle, and Exposed!Peter Petrelli) who can protect them. He’ll want that back in an attempt to bring himself back to life.
Now, that doesn’t mean that everyone else is going to be left out in the cold. Zi is gonna need help fighting and likely a rescue when she gets caught. So! Who wants in?
