Star Effect
I personally think the results speak for themselves, given how amazing we are. My Mother would have adored you though, taken you in no questions asked. I'd like to think I'm enough of a hardass to win over your old man too. Something tells me it would have had me doing a lot of pull and push ups, but to get access to the Ryder clan? That feels like a pretty small and worthwhile price to pay to me.
Kind of makes sense to me why he wouldn't, to be honest. Twenty hour a day training, hostile environments, little to no food, no ammo. You're dragged halfway across the galaxy and thrown into firefights nobody should be in. You've got to learn trauma care for just about every race we've encountered, and don't even get me started about when the boot you out of a ship for a Halo jump, not even telling you that's what you're about to do. Most of the candidates in my program washed out by N2, and they still get treated like damn heroes. Anyone even accepted into the program is to be honest. The vetting is intense and if your Dad made it into the program, that alone would be enough to make me salute.
As I see it though, I think you'd have done exceptionally well. If we ever get back home, Andromeda or back to the Milky Way, I'd absolutely put your name up for recommendation if you ever wanted to apply or start training people myself if we end up in your neck of the woods -- which I frankly think I'd prefer.
