The Doctor narrowed his eyes at her, studying her face. She was like trying to figure out a puzzle with difficult solution. Elusive. Frustrating. It didn't help that she was so mysterious and contrary. Or maybe it did, because it kept piquing his curiosity.
Diner Girl's answer seemed to satisfy him, though. It was an answer he could appreciate, a personality trait that he'd look out for in a potential Companion. That is, back when he used to travel with Companions. He'd decided against that a while back. True, he had Nardole, but he didn't place him in the same category as an Amy Pond or a Donna Noble, or a Rose Tyler.
He rested his elbow upon the table and leaned his cheek against his hand as he listened to her. "Do you want to find out more about the giant head? I'm dying to see what it looks like from the outside." It was an invitation to explore, even though he didn't have the TARDIS with him.
