While there have certainly been a fair share of imitations and fans out there over the years who have done some amazing work when it comes to uniform reproductions -- and I always appreciate that -- it's very hard to forge Vibranium into a shield and I've yet to see one prop that could hold up to a strike from Mjolnir or keep you alive when someone's shooting a RPG at you.
So, while you're correct that I could be, I assure you I certainly am not...it's Georgia right? I apologize for not introducing myself sooner especially considering some of the things you asked about I try and catch up with most of the new arrivals and see if there's anything I can do to help with acclimation or adjustments that a lot of people need. We see a lot of first time space visitors here, and that experience can be jarring to say the least.
Thompson, who I obviously didn't get to until much later, was always a bit...off for me. His colorization and notions about America were just..sad. Which isn't to say that he's inherently wrong either. His portrayals of the modern American ideal in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well as the collapse of a reliable political system for the people during the Veitnam conflict in On the Campaign Trail are sadly far more accurate than I would like.
Ed Murrow though? Now that man was a top notch journalist. I met him back in Berlin, in '45 when the Invaders finally launched a spearhead attack into Berlin to take down Hitler and the Red Skull. We talked for quite awhile after his broadcast. Nice guy, good journalistic integrity, but he was from a time when that kind of thing mattered a lot more than it seems to these days.
I completely agree with you on the latter point George. Doing what's right isn't about having money, or gadgets, or powers, or even a serum enhanced physiology. I won't say that you need to special to do things, but I will say that being the kind of person who is willing to do them is what makes a person special. We've all got to do our parts to keep the world running and holding together, but we're all just as capable of it as the next person too.
