The Doctor swallowed hard; the only thing he could think of about Bill was how he let her down. He'd promised to save her, but he was too late and she'd been turned into a Cyberman.
And it was all because of the Master The Doctor's gaze became hardened, glowering at the other Time Lord. No. he reminded himself. This Master is not the same one from my memory. He can't be held accountable. Unlike myself, who let her down. His expression quickly shifted from angry to defeated, and he hung his head, giving it a small shake, as if that could dismiss the guilt harbored in his soul.
"I'll miss her. She was fun to have around."
He looked up again. "Why am I not surprised that you and River are getting along?" He slowly nodded. "I'm glad you are. She's... she's also amazing."
The Doctor wandered from his spot, going around the console, coming closer to the Master, but not before swiping the Master's journal from off the console top along the way. "That's the general gist I got from everybody. Different levels of being pissed off, but worried. Thank you for understanding though. I was hoping you would."
