Of course, being far too old for Jason made him far too old for Dean. Not that the angel and the Hunter were anything to speak about, they weren't-- but the blue-eyed Seraph had an undeniable love for his charge. Something that would cause him to do ridiculous things, dangerous things, in a variety of situations. As was evident by his recent and very final-seeming death. Still, he didn't think much on it. He'd died for Dean. That was an honor, not a tragedy. If only Dean would realize he was worth it.
But right now, thank goodness, that wasn't something on his radar. Jay was currently the only thing he was focused on. Well, Jay and his siblings. And his own relationship with his siblings. Sure, he had Sam and Dean Winchester to watch, but they didn't seem to mirror his own relationship with his brothers and sisters. Jason's sounded much more like his own situation.
"You don't miss them, but you like having the option of seeing them if the idea strikes you?" That was odd, he honestly hadn't expected that. He had expected this young man to be far more vested in the lives of his brothers and his sister. "Would you prefer to be alone? With no siblings?" That wasn't something Castiel could even imagine. He'd had them in his head forever, always talking, always communicating, always there. Always. When he'd turned it off those few times, it hadn't been bad because he had the option to turn it back on.
Maybe Jason's way of thinking did make sense.. not really missing your siblings, but just wanting the option of being able to see them, or hear them, if you really wanted to.
Blue eyes dropped down to Deanna at the side of his chair, then they strayed over to Ace. Tilting his head a little, he regarded the dog with narrowed eyes for a few long seconds before giving his attention back to Jason.
Sorry, kid, the angel was a little unusual. He took some getting used to.
