But he had said he’d stay in bed. He’d given his word on it to the one person where, really, that mattered most. So it was that Francis laid his head back down against the pillow and, albeit maddeningly, resigned himself to being unable to hear for certain.
The whole exchange with Torunn was….curious to say the least. She wasn’t at all blindsided by another example of Torunn’s deft maneuvering around her engagement. It was entirely within the scope of what she had been doing all along. However, what struck Sif about this particular interaction was the redundancy of it and how...off it all seemed. She’d battled alongside the girl and had seen her conduct there. She was certain enough that, while the sights were otherworldly and the subject of an unpleasant dream, the child had taken it in reasonable stride. Yet here she stood, arms tightly folded, repeating herself alongside what Sif took as the insinuation she should be planning to return if not simply showing an extensive level of care and understanding about the nature of a place like this one.
“Certainly.” She wouldn’t argue when the girl looked so wound she might shoot herself from the place with the speed of the lightning she so readily wielded. It drew a slight side glance at the older woman to her side, before she dropped her gaze back upon Torunn. “None could questioned you have earned the respite of a warm bath. May you find it release you from the stresses of the day.” It was a subtle nod to that which she had come to detect, but not enough so that she was about to press when she might simply step aside and allow the girl free access to the path she so clearly sought.
Sif would hold her tongue for a moment after, letting Torunn pass away with an ear turned to the sound of boots carrying the child away. She took the span to cross her thoughts, to weigh out the suggestion in her mind as it settled against the facts.
“They have been allies for some time.” That, as Sif saw it, was no longer a matter of suspect but had firmly landed itself in fact. Another moment of debate as brows would knit together then. “Bobbi.” Sif turned her tones toward the friendly, abandoning the conditioned pretense of her Asgardian conditioning all at once. “My apologies for this request as I am certain your day has been long and you wish to spend time with your Son, but would you pay me the favor of keeping an eye on her in the coming days? I suspect far more is amiss than the injuries would suggest and she had made it quite clear that my involvement would be seen as troublesome if not meddling.”
There was a brief pause.
“Though, if you would, once you are settled in the notion that your son is resting well and on his way to healing, take company with me at your Starlins for drinks as partial payment for this favor, I would also consider that a great kindness.”
Bobbi huffed softly, “Oh, don’t worry. He’s not going anywhere.” She nodded in Torunn’s direction - the look on the girl’s features was so plainly obviously that it almost couldn’t be missed but, like Sif - she just sort of kept it quiet. “Both Bartons are going to need a stern talking to about heroics, figure today isn’t the day for that.” She added, stepping fully out of Torunn’s way. Yeah she was definitely going to get a kick out of this later, though to be fair she’d really have to gauge Francis’ reaction for that…
The blonde Asgardian considered fightin what Sif said - every bone in her body wanted to, every bone in her body wanted to just be done with subtlety and just snap at the other woman and tell her that she’d never taken a damn bath and she wasn’t going to start now. She wanted to snap and demand that it was ridiculous to suggest relaxing right now, she couldn’t relax right now the only person she had left went and almost got himself killed, but even Torunn knew well enough that that wouldn’t be fair to Sif… especially if she ever managed to find out that… Torunn may not have liked the idea of parents, anything else aside but, she wasn’t going to blame this version of her Mother for the sins of the other. Not only that, but apparently she hated Thor too and that was sort of enough for her right now to at least respect the other woman enough
