It wasn't in Nebula's nature to concern herself with strangers. Most days, she barely cared about her own sister and even that tenuous connection exhausted Nebula frequently. So when she'd received Jason Todd's message asking her to visit, Nebula had considered ignoring the message entirely. Her first instinct had been to erase it, but she'd hesitated.
Jason Todd was interesting. Nebula was almost entirely certain he was a super hero - a human who dressed in costume and used a false name to fight. It was a curious practice that Nebula wanted to learn more about. This was the convenient excuse she used to accept his invitation without having to let herself think that she might care about some dumb human.
Nebula was tall and her presence was intimidating. She walked stiffly into the recovery wing with the same hawkish look on her face she had on everywhere else. She searched until she found Jason's bed and stopped before him, looking him over to assess injuries. "I do not understand the merit of visiting hours," she said, rough and rude.
"It's a doctor thing." Jason barely looked up from his phone. He was composing his thirteenth message to Dick demanding (begging) to be let out of bed. The boredom was getting to him. Really, compared to the last few incidents, Jason felt fine. His brains hadn't been scrambled, and if the Brute had grabbed him at a slightly different angle, he'd have walked out under his own power already. No one wanted him to risk the stitches of a potential major bleeder, though, so he was stuck.
Ace looked up from his place at Jason's side. His bushy tail thumped rapidly against the bed rail at the sight of Nebula. The dog squeaked his blue jay stuffie at her, the favored toy held in his jaws. Jason absently petted the dog between the ears.
"The idea is that you've got to let sick people rest. Visiting hours means the doctors can chase you away more easily."
