Fate would decide to test their new friendship sooner rather than later. Sabo head swiveled sharply towards the unmistakable sound of metal being bent, shrieking as if in pain. The crane, jostled about too quickly by the swinging container, was no longer able to bear the crushing weight; helpless, the massive structure actually seemed to lurch forward, but did not fall. The support beams held up, and the entire machine appeared to 'bounce' as it swayed, then stabilized.
The workers below scattered in a panic, and many were able to escape from the tall stacks of freight away from the docks. Others were not so lucky - they were essentially trapped within a maze of containers and crates, with another hovering precariously right over their heads. The cable holding it frayed bit by bit, the coiled metal splitting apart.
Without knowing a single thing more about Gambit - not his name, his strengths, or his abilities - Sabo called out one thing to the man, then sharply leapt away from the wall like a rocket.
"Back me up!" he had shouted. He hadn't hesitated to trust Remy.
As he sailed through the air, both of Sabo's hands suddenly changed to a glossy, black shade, as if he had slipped on a pair of metal gloves. He zeroed in on the container just as it began to plummet, then viciously drilled his outstretched fingers into its solid surface. With teeth grit tightly, Sabo appeared to give a quick push forward, and the entire container burst violently apart.
Sadly, most of its contents were instantly obliterated - plenty of lost revenue - but a few large crates inside spilled out a tumbled towards the workers below.
