Matt turned his head slightly, as if glancing over his shoulder. Really he was reading Frank's body as he lay behind him. The deep and resonate thump of Frank's heart was almost comforting in its stoic rhythm. Frank didn't rattle easy.
Now they weren't in the middle of a fight, and he wasn't chained to a wall or crowded by police or all the other things that had surrounded their meetings before Matt had a chance to really 'look' at Frank. What he could see was that the other man was all muscle. No wonder those punches hurt. The heat rising from Frank's bare skin was like a smokey flame outlining the silhouette of his abs and legs and thick arms. He could almost make out Frank's profile to see his face. Almost. He could hear the broken nose click with every inhale. Matt wondered if it was one he'd given him.
With a sigh Matt turned and sat on his bed, his pyjama bottoms on but his shirt still off. The constant hum of electricity through every wall didn't give any hint if the lights were dim or on full so he couldn't tell how much Frank could see of him. "Palatable? Not sure that's the word I'd use to describe me. I don't think I've been that nice to you so far. I'm sorry. I'm just.. well you get it. It's overwhelming. It's weird," He shrugged and decided to avoid the subject of their completely unpredicted trip to space. "Why'd you join the army?"
