"You think I went round and sniffed each pillow to see where you were sleepin', Murdock?" Frank asked. "No offence, but I ain't exactly thrilled that you're here, either, y'know?" he huffed.
Matt was silent then. There was a lengthy pause following his sigh and Frank had no intention of breaking it. Hopefully they were going to go leave it at that and just never speak again unless Matt needed him to read something or-
He listened to the other man loosening his tie, listened to his movements. This was really happening.
He surprised himself then by laughing. Genuinely laughing at Matt's comment. Not loudly, but it was enough to sound strange to his ears.
"Ah, he's a good boy," Frank replied, feeling a momentary pang of sadness. "Knows what we need, I guess." That brought him full circle, back around to one of his former thoughts. "You need anything readin' to you- I know Karen's here so- but I can read, I ain't just a pretty face. I'll read stuff out for you if your whizz pad don't know how to. I dunno. Just ask," he said quietly, finally turning his head away from Matt.
