((I think I've spelled antidote 'anecdote' at least once in this thread, which reminds me of a Ron White joke about if he'd only known the difference...xD))
"Thomas Wayne was a good man, good to the city," Jim agreed, his thoughts taking him back through the years. "Even the base for that antidote to the Scarecrow's serum comes from Wayne Enterprises. Most folk would tell you... it's picked up since Lucius Fox was made chairman of the board but...." He shrugged a shoulder. "I've lived my entire life in this city. Maybe I just can't imagine that Thomas and Martha Wayne would have any sort of... wastrel for a son." He eyed her with an eyebrow lifted. "And if you make fun of my age for using that word, I might have to look offended," he chuckled.
Then, more seriously, "He's always been good to us. Which is more than I can say of his friends. And he's been good to my Barbara, which forever puts someone in my good graces."
He gave her a knowing sidelong glare. "Maybe," he admitted. "A little. But I think he broke Babs' heart a little for years, too, which...." He grunted. "And he got me this t-shirt that said 'Free Mustache Rides' for Christmas!" Now both his eyebrows shot up. "Wayne raised him, all right."
He cleared his throat. "And speaking of Wayne, have you... ever been up to the Manor? No, I suppose you haven't. He has an annual Halloween ball, to which I receive an invite every year. I was wondering if maybe you'd like to... I mean, as second dates go, this one was sort of unexpected and stressful." He laughed dryly.
