Matt sincerely didn't know how to answer. They were getting to know one another, weren't they? So, sure, he was a friend. But it would really be a fib just so she wouldn't be alone, when she clearly didn't want to be with how she was using the little strength she had to hold his hand.
"Yeah, we're friends," he said softly. As if to emphasize this, he added, "you're gonna be okay, Helena." Wow, he was a pretty good actor.
They checked her over and got her secured to go into the ambulance as quickly as possible, and he wasn't sure where he needed to be at that point. Probably back in makeup and wardrobe, getting his clothes changed and ready for the next scene. But at this point, he didn't see himself working for the rest of the night, as much as he was sure that would piss of the director.
"Can I ride along?" he asked one of the paramedics.
