Updated info & new changes!
We spent yesterday updating a lot of the information about the game since it had become a little outdated. First up:

- The game's premise has been updated to reflect the current setting of Kiseki.
- The rules have been shortened, reorganized, and simplified. Give them a look (just in case).
- Every section of the FAQ has been updated and reorganized with more accurate and simplified information. There's some new things added which will be explained further down this entry.
- Applications have been simplified. The history section no longer has to be written - a link to a wiki article will be acceptable from now on.
- Pets & Items Requests has been cleaned up a little bit.
- The character tags have been unified in terms of nicknames/alt names/canons listed.
- Most importantly of all, locations page has been updated! See below for descriptions.

NEW LOCATIONS:
Housing area: the hotels have been transformed into a series of domed buildings. Each dome can be large enough to house up to 3-4 people. The housing area has a small reception information booth shaped like a winged egg where you can rent a room, pay your rent, receive your allowance, or request a roommate. You might even be assigned a random roommate (which would be decided oocly - more information below).

Each dome defaults to being white and pink on the outside although renters can repaint if they wish. The interiors are all fairly similar looking. Plain, mostly white with touches of pink. Each dome is built like a small house, with a bathroom, a kitchen, individual bedrooms, and a living room. They all have at least a double-bed, a table with a chair, a sofa, and a cupboard with a few generic clothes, towels and bed clothing – all of which are decorated with little wings and egg motifs. If a character choose to alter or improve the decorations of their little house, they are free to do so. However, if a character is dropped and no one claims their possessions, they will disappear. If a character is removed due to a hiatus, but is set to return, any changes will be maintained. And yes, people can realize this difference ICly, and know that if the character's things are still there they're likely to return soon.

The housing area still has the series of underground tunnels available to characters. The huts in the forest and the beach are the same and still available for renting.

The caves in the forests: the forests are the same as before except now the series of caves have expanded. Following the path will lead to a series of caves nestled in the trees. These caves are strange - large and expansive, with a series of large caverns, open areas, and tunnels connecting it all. It's easy to get lost within these caves, so travel carefully. As you venture further in, though, you'll start to feel a very pure feeling. The source of this purity is an open clearing with a shrine at the center of it. The shrine is built around a large skeleton of a massive dragon that died during the dragon event. Some of these dragons still live in the forest. The dragon's skeleton is surrounded by stone seats and carved stones, marking this a special, pure place.

The Farm Island: this is a new island that's at the northeast section of the island, connected to the main island by a landbridge covered in grass and little flowers and connecting through the shopping district. This island has an animal farm and stables, where all kinds of animals are raised. Different from the zoo, these animals are raised for their milk, eggs, and wool. There are also horses which can be rented or bought. There's plenty of food for the animals around, including large bales of hay and grasslands that the animals roam.

The location section now has a section about character-run businesses! If your character owns a business/store/whatever that you'd like to see listed, let us know in the plotting post.

Finally, Negative Energy Trees are a new addition to the islands. These are a rare form of tree that can grow throughout Kiseki. It feeds on negative energy and when it's fully grown, it will sprout lantern-like fruits that begin to glow. Once they start to glow, it means that an invasion is imminent from the monsters in both the forests and the sea. From now on, it'll be necessary to patrol the area and stop these attacks before they begin.

When these rapidly growing small trees fully form the strange, lantern-like fruits that begin to glow at full-growth, it'll mean the monsters are out of control and could lead to an invasion. Regularly checking for these appearing anywhere will be necessary, and slaying creatures from behind the barriers are a needed option. The best way to handle these is to check for signs of the trees growing, and attack then, rather than wait for the fruits to fully grow.

The trees grow with negative energy, and therefore destroying them unleashes it on anyone nearby - causing the worst replayed events effects, leading to temporary madness or illness, or making the one responsible a sudden magnet for monsters. Even remaining close to the trees for long enough will lead to bad feelings and thoughts, irrational behavior, and so on. When monsters are successfully kept in check, the trees wither and die.

More information on patrolling/attacking/protecting can be found below!

OLD LOCATIONS BEING REMOVED OR MOVED:
- The amusement park is no more! (It has been replaced by the farm island.)
- The hotels are no more! (They are replaced by the domed buildings.)
- The playground, once next to the park, has been moved to the school.
- The arcade and karaoke bar, once near the playground, have both been relocated to the shopping district.
- The hospital has been renamed the clinic, meaning it has gotten slightly smaller; it still has the same accommodations as before.
- Before, the gardens island was accessible only through the zoo island. The two islands have now switched. The first island you arrive to from the main island is the gardens. In order to get to the zoo, you must walk through the gardens.

NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
From now on, when temporary or new jobs are available through npcs in Kiseki, there will be a comment dedicated to it in our monthly plotting posts. It'll be things like, "the school needs to be painted!" or sometimes more serious offerings.

In regards to the above described Negative Emotions Trees, there'll be a new, necessary job associated with them. There will occasionally be monster "outbreaks" from the forests and ocean, with some of them even leaving the usual protective barriers. These attacks happen at random, but are indicated through special, rare trees which will grow in a few spots in the forests, within the caves, on the garden island, on the beach, near the bridges connected to them, and even at the bottom of the sea in areas viewable via the aquarium (description of which is coming soon).

This is not just for safety issues. Fighting these monsters and patrolling for these trees is something that your character can be paid for and is ideal for warriors who might feel restless in Kiseki. Your character can sign up at the reception, Welcome Center, or through the sheriff's office.

NEW ROOMMATE OPPORTUNITIES:
With the new dome buildings, which are larger than the hotel rooms were, there's an opportunity to request roommates! Your character can request a roommate. Or your character might be randomly assigned a roommate.

Obviously the 'randomly assigned a roommate' will be determined oocly with both players, but to the characters, they won't have a choice in the matter!

If you're interested in your character acquiring a roommate, you can work that out oocly or post to the plotting event to work it out there. If you're interested in a more randomized assignment, the mods can offer assistance.

All of these changes will be made official once the flood event ends and the water recedes.

If you have any questions regarding any of the changes above, but especially regarding the new locations/the locations that have gone away, please post questions at this month's plotting post!

Finally, we are currently working on planning upcoming events and we’d love your input: here is our suggestions page. If you have an idea, let us know!

*A* I love it!

The tree thing is especially cool- will there be a way for characters to know IC what the lanterns mean, or will they have to figure it out themselves? Can we say they're glowing whenever we want an excuse to fight monsters, or will that be a plot thing?

Having it as an excuse to fight monsters more regularly is precisely the point, yes! Or ignore them and provoke a mass invasion. Or fuck them up and suffer the consequences. Go nuts.

Characters will be notified of the way it works, though, yes. We'll have it specified in the upcoming log :>

This is all very exciting! I'm with Oz in especially liking the energy trees. A question: when you say they're "causing the worst replayed events effects", you mean the ones listed under "angst and horror events" and the like, right?

Great job, guys (and especially Robin)!

Yes! Wreck the trees and get a ghost wounds and memory loss combo, or whatever evils you can come up with. Worse if the trees are more fully grown, given what they are. It's like Hima-themed trees.

I vote we call them that. For her legacy.

Ah, the possibilities. Thank you.

question: should someone with a lot of negativity in their life/mind/etc go close to the trees, would they feed off that energy to grow faster, or simply exacerbate the already bad feelings and continue growing at their own pace?
