Concrit meme - Take 56!
We're having a concrit meme again! The rules are the same as last time:

Comment to this post with a list of your characters.

Then reply anonymously to the other players, giving concrit on how they're playing/their characterization/their interactions/etc. Or ask them to elaborate on different events and choices with their characters - why did [character] do x or y, and so on.

Flames will simply get screened or deleted - and, if I can track it down, you could be banned. The idea is to help us all improve and clear out possible misunderstandings, point out activity issues, etc, not to simply insult someone. The more you can elaborate and specify (in a civil, reasonable way) why something bothers you, the better.

You can just praise a character/mun, if you can't find anything wrong with what they do. It's always better if you can elaborate on why you like that character (then that person can know what they're doing right), but hey, flailing at someone is fine too.

This is semi-mandatory! If you aren't comfortable with the HMD, or don't feel like posting every time, or whatever the reason is, it's just fine, go ahead and don't participate. Obviously, I'd rather everyone did.

And one last thing - we're a small game! If nobody comments, then the meme doesn't work. If you receive comments, try to leave at least one of your own to somebody else. It's always better if we have many replies, and various POVs.

I think you're doing a great job with Date so far. I think his intro was definitely interesting, and it's always cool when the intro posts can get shaken up a bit, so utilizing the event was really smart. And I think it worked well to get people who wouldn't talk to him otherwise to take notice of him. I think you're doing a great job of making him utterly ridiculous.

I think you're doing wonderfully with your characters, as always. Even ones who are usually rather closed off or hard to interact with, such as Kakyou or Doumeki or Sei, seem to be very present in the game. Perhaps not to the extent of Mokona or Sakura, but that's how it should be, too.

You're handling Sakura's issues and growth very well. I think you do a great job of not making her just generic sparkles, but actually have her interact with and react to things that might be a bit darker or unlike her own canon. Issues of forgetting people and body memories, such as in TRC, or dealing with Kuro being a huge jerk to her. You give her so many sides and you can definitely see how she's the sparkly jesus that she is without seeming condescending or overly stupid. She's still very much a kid, but a smart, generous, and kind one. You handle her perfectly.

Ahhhh thank you so much ♥ I'm glad Date's intro was interesting :D It was definitely a ton of fun to play out.

And yay, like I said in the plotting post I'm really happy about Sakura getting chances to be involved in more serious stuff. I really wanted to try that out more, and it's been happening and I love the results, so it's great to see others enjoy it too and think she's dealing well with them!

I loved the way you handled Fay and Chika during the events. Chika's post was SO FUNNY and his threads with Tachibana are always, always hilarious.

Fay, too, was really creatively done, I think. I liked that you got some longing from him, and his reaction to Yuuy disappearing was really well done. I loved how his mermaid self interacted with people, and it seems it might lead to some new CR, too, which is always fantastic.

De-aged Kamui is literally perfect. Seriously. He is SO adorable and perfect. I just adore your Kamui in general, too, of course.

I've been super impressed with all your characters lately, actually. They all seem so present and building new CR and putting themselves in new situations. I thought that Saya's and Kamui's more recent entries were really interesting and easy to respond to, and the threads were so fun to stalk. I especially loved Spider during the fairy tale event. And I really love seeing Syaoran learning more and more to remember/feel his emotions.

Overall, you are fantastic and wonderful and I love all your characters. AND TINY KAMUI IS PERFECT. <3333

fkalsd;fjasdf Thank you so much, anon! I've definitely been trying to push myself lately to do as much as I can with my characters, and I'm glad it is noticeable. It can be tough when not everyone I play is outgoing or easy to tag with a lot of the time for sure.

I'm glad those recent entries have been interesting as you said, and hope others have felt similarly! Especially for Saya, I know her intro was a huge bummer and probably hard to tag/keep tagging so it's nice to be able to post something more light-hearted and open despite her canon hahaha (or... thanks to her canon LOL SOB damn it CLAMP.) Same goes for Kamui, I'm really grateful for those that haven't gotten sick of tagging with him with all the sad going on with our current relationship plots.

I AM ALSO GLAD DE-AGED KAMUI IS FUN FOR OTHER PEOPLE BESIDES MYSELF HAHA. Seriously thank you for your comment ♥ /leaves a baby icon just for you.

I really like the way you play Fuuma, and as people have mentioned in the past you do a great job of portraying him as the quiet kind of guy he is, while making him interesting at the same time and not letting him become super boring.

That said, it'd be great to see him around more! We didn't get to see him react to Kamui leaving, he rarely interacts even with castmates... Even his journal looks almost abandoned, with the last entry being from so long ago, and his participation in logs is usually very late. I understand that he's a quiet person who would focus mostly on his sister and Kamui, but there might be events you could use to help interactions happen? Abusing the "accidental" recordings could work, too.

Thanks anaon, I'm glad that Fuuma is still sounding good, and isn't too boring. That's always a bit of a concern with Mr. Cardboard here.

I think it's pretty apparent that November to December weren't good months for me RP wise, which is around when Kamui dropped, and Kakyou apped back in - which is what I assume you are meaning castmates wise. I had planned on making a post for Fuuma covering some of that, but then the fairy tale event happened, and by then it seemed pointless to bother because it happened months ago. The whole second half of 2012 was crap for me honestly, but I'm hoping this year will be better and I am trying to get myself back into the swing of things.

As for the logs, I'm honestly not sure what you'd like me to do about it. I tag into the logs when I have time, or have a good idea of what I'd like to do with the event. I tagged into the fairy tale event log a day after it was posted, and if people aren't willing to tag because I am a day late posting, I have no idea how I can fix that. I tag into things if I can think of a way to put Fuuma in there, but if I don't I throw up an open post in the log.

I've been feeling kind of stuck with Fuuma in general this month and last for various reasons, but again, hopefully I can figure it out and get back into the swing of things. I'm for sure going to look over the events again, and see if there isn't one that catches my eye to play with.

I definitely did not mean that tag in particular, but looking back there really isn't a pattern of late replies. There have been a few times when Fuuma tagged late, but it's not that often. However, his lack of participation in general does stand out. While looking for log replies to see if I could give you more examples, I noticed he's absent from a majority of logs, and when he does show up he's almost never tagging others. His last post is from May, which is much, much further back than the times you mentioned, and it makes the lack of tagging in logs much more problematic. It'd be great to be able to build CR with him, you do play him very well when you do and he has a lot of potential for interesting threads and CR. But it's very difficult to manage it when he doesn't tag around much (if at all), and rarely updates.

Sorry anon, like I said, last year was really shitty for me, and made it hard to get a whole lot done RP wise. I know I haven't been super active, but I didn't have the time or energy to be. I'm going to try and turn things around, and I'm going to work on being more active. But I've had a lot going on this month and I don't want to jump into a ton of things all at once and stress myself out over it.

I would love some feedback on both Fuuma and (this) Sakura... I feel like I'm doing alright, but idk if that just means I'm drawing myself into a false sense of security or not. I know that some of my idiots have been a bit less present than usual, but I'll work hard to correct that this month. Thanks everyone!

I think you're doing great with everyone! Even if some people have been less present than usual, you've still been really active and involved with everyone. I really enjoyed all the various things your characters did for the last event, Hokuto in particular was really amusing, and I liked the way you kept her sounding IC and being her usual crazy self, even though her circumstances were so different.

Since you asked about Sakura and Fuuma especifically: I love all the CR Sakura's built, and the balance between his more serious and sillier sides. Considering how little we know about him so far, you're doing a great job. It doesn't feel like he's two-dimensional at all, and the little quirks and headcanons you've incorporated into his playing fit him so well. With Fuuma, I like the way he's kept open to CR despite the recent developments with Kamui (and Subaru, and Seishirou). He could very easily completely shut off, and it'd be justified, but you've managed to make it so more people can get to know him and bond with him even through all of that. I haven't noticed anything off with his voice or overall characterization, either, he seems as good as always.

fffffffffff thank you so much, anon! ;o; ♥ Sometimes I get very worried just because I feel like I'm playing in a vacuum or something? Being all "well this makes sense to me, oh fuck what if it doesn't make sense to others?" especially since I don't tend to rely on exposition in brackets too much (because I am le lazy or something idk) - so I'm glad that they come across as rounded and fun and whatnot. ESPECIALLY Sakura, who I fret about forever, waiting for the day when I have to ret-con like whoooa because CLAMP's going to reveal he's secretly a potato or something.

Anyway, word vomit whooo. Thank you so much for your sweet comment. ;^; It definitely helps to know that people are enjoying my characters. Thank you, thank you! ♥♥♥

I know I haven't been as active as I usually am due to rl shenanigans, and I'm sorry for that. But I'd love to get some feedback on, well, everyone, since I've been feeling off with just about all of them, or more like feeling they're not developing enough, nor being interesting enough. :/a

Disclaimer: This is sort of a mix between crit and suggestion, though I hope it's taken more as suggestion. And it's not directed at any one player or pair of players, so please don't worry. It's more intended for everybody to think about, and maybe make suggestions.

A lot of the recent plots and events seem to have been very, very ship focused. And it's great that people get to play out their OTPs and OT3s and have a grand old time. However, that can make it a little difficult for people who either don't have ships or who have characters who don't care about relationship drama. People are great at tagging around, and having lots of CR with other characters, but most of the things designed to grab attention feel very ship-centric in nature. Characters, like their players, can sometimes get burnt out on having to deal with other characters' relationship drama.

Which brings me to a suggestion! I know there was a discussion about having a Valentine's Day event. What if we skipped Valentine's Day? Especially since people can replay old romantic events whenever they want, every day could be Valentine's Day. And instead, have a more generic event, or none at all.

I'm... sorry, but what exactly about a fairy tale AU event is ship-centric? The idea, at least. People were free to play out what they wanted, out of any sort of variation they wanted. If they chose something that focused on ships, that's their choice. Many roles weren't shippy, and a lot of the things played out weren't shippy either.

We had the mistletoe before, and that one's always crazy popular. We had the Halloween event before, which wasn't shippy in itself at all. Before that, it was the clothings!event. Before that, it was the blizzard. Neither of those is shippy in itself.

So that's... One shippy replay, out of two huge, long lasting events, and two smaller ones. I don't think it's fair to say the events have been very ship focused.

Player-plots is a different issue altogether, and it's true there have been many overarching plots that involve ships - Sakura and Tachi are super shippy, for example (though to be fair, I would LOVE to explore more aspects of him - I just don't know them yet! Canon needs to hurry up). The TRC foursome has been pretty present, too, but I think it's unfair to label it as simply "romantic drama"? I mean, sure, that's a huge part of it, but.. idk. It also involves Sei being a murderer asshole and Fuuma's childhood traumas and issues and the twins' relationship with each other and a bunch of other things that aren't necessarily romantic in nature or just shippy. And then, idk. There isn't much more? Not that stands out so much, at least.

It's a CLAMP game, too. Many of their series revolve around pairings, or have ships as very important aspects of their characters' lives.

All that said, I'm all for having more gen-oriented events or things to help out with gen CR. I kept asking people to help me with the VD's idea I had precisely because I felt it was totally alienating to those who weren't in OTPs and I don't want that.

On the other hand, I love my ships, I love characters who are very ship-oriented (see: my entire list pretty much), and I love special days, so I don't particularly care for skipping VD's, when it'd be just one day of event.

However, if more people are sick of ships at this point, we can change things up. Last night in chat I came up with this idea for a major event involving lost memories and searching for them (it's less TRC-y than it sounds, I swear), which would help TONS to get characters to know each other more? I was definitely planning on having it happen soon.
