[He knows objectively that Tony is a hero. Every hero has grand dreams. The certainty of it really gets to him. For a moment he doesn't breathe. He just stares at him and wishes more than anything they could go back home. Steve needs to see this happen because he knows Tony's way won't be as dark and terrifying as Pierce's.
After that moment passes he remembers himself and responds with words,] Whatever I can do to support you. That's one of the few things I really want. I want... peace.
[The longing in his voice is hard for him to hear. In a peaceful world, he could focus on saving Bucky. He could figure out where you go after the war; find a home. He could be a man again instead of a walking symbol of everyone's hopes and dreams.
He glances down and returns to his drink. It's Tony's turn so he resists the urge to ask more.]
