[The small comfort in all of this is that later, waking up in a bed that isn't his, next to someone who definitely wasn't there when he fell asleep -- at least he knows to expect it. That makes it easier to summon up a light smile, despite whatever dreams (or nightmares, at they more often than not tend to be) were plaguing him before.]
