[Well, she wouldn't be wrong to think that. He just keeps smiling sadly at her through her words, trailing off and cutting in the middle though they are, like she can't quite form coherent sentences through her disbelief. Even when she looks like she's about two seconds away from slapping him, he doesn't flinch back, doesn't move at all- though privately preparing to catch her arm should she move, because as little as he cares that he might get frozen, he doesn't want the guilt on her that she would feel if she hurt him.
Yes, you're not fooling him on that part- that he knows she feels guilty for what she's done, and blames herself more than anyone else here blames her for anything.]
