Oh, the indignity. Billy endured a few comical scrambles before managing to find some footing in the mud puddle and at least pulling himself up to a seated position, covered quite thoroughly in muck. He was sputtering and trying to wipe mud from his face with equally muddy hands when she interceded with her shirt to actually clear enough mud away for him to open his eyes again.
"I'm glad you're amused." He managed to say dryly, though he couldn't quite manage full sarcasm - the humour was undeniable, and he was fighting back a smile beneath his veneer of dirt. Already the heavy rains were beginning to wash the layer away anyways. "Maybe that's a better idea."
