Getting hugged was something Tendou missed. Usually he would have predicted it, but coming inside without view of what was waiting for him gave him very little reaction time. Even still, Tendou managed to plop the box of goodies onto a nearby countertop before the hug. He stood there, stupefied, and motionlessly surprised Riley had made the move to embrace him. Even as he was going to return the hug, his friend broke contact. Expression deepening into worry. He'd known coming here and seeing Riley all by himself after traveling to a new world would be hard. But it hurt to watch his usual upbeat self be so down.
The room was...well, how Tendou could've described it as grey. The color that Riley brought to the world, as well as the decorations and everything of his old room were nowhere to be found. It didn't feel colorful anymore, but it had the potential to be with time. The seal skin caught his eye, as out of place as it was. He opened his mouth to address it, but closed it shortly after. It wasn't the time to talk about that. Not right now.
"Don't apologize. I...don't mind really, man." Satori let himself inside, closing the door behind him. He slipped off his shoes and left them at the door.
He climbed on the bed, plopping down next to Riley. Tendou threw his arm around Riley, pulling him close as he gave it a squeeze. Not tightly, leaving enough room for him to pull away if he wasn't comfortable. Touch had never been an issue between them. Respecting each other's space but still not violating any unspoken rules. Tendou wanted him to know he was there for him. He wanted to be there. He looked sadly at him, burying his face in his hands. In all the time he'd known him, he'd never seen Riley without a smile on his face.
"You don't suck. This...this whole thing does." Tendou started. "It just happens and you...you don't get to have a choice in it. Nothing about it is fair." He paused, looking down. "It's...okay to cry. It's okay to be scared. But you're not alone. I'm here for you if you wanna talk about it."
Satori remembered the nights alone. His facility bedroom was barren and cold. He remembered not feeling, just staring at the rows of clawprints and burn marks from whoever inhabited the room prior to him coming. How empty he felt, and how he finally broke the night he moved in to the Halfway House. When the reality of not being able to go back truly settled in. He had thought one jump between worlds would be where it ended. But apparently with these sorts of things, it wasn't. Who knew how long he'd be stuck here too?
All Satori Tendou knew was volleyball and a bit of baking. He wished he had all the answers, he wished he could take Riley's pain away.
