After slipping silently out of bed about fifteen minutes ago, Aidrian had splashed water on his face and decided it wasn't worth getting dressed yet. He wasn't expecting anyone to show up this early in the day, at least not without forewarning. Their most often visitors, his twin and Izzy were out of state for another four days or so. Raksha had said little over the phone, but Aidrian knew his twin well enough to read tone. Something was bothering him. Whether it involved Izzy or not, Aidrian wasn't sure. Though he'd be willing to make bets it was.
Wiping the the lingering cool droplets off his skin and feeling much cleaner and more awake, Aidrian moved out of the bathroom, gaze going directly to the bag he'd shoved in the corner of the bedroom. Raksha's, and containing enough weaponry to get his twin arrested for carrying stuff he had no permit for. But safer here than in the empty house while the bunnies, Aidrian grinned briefly at the nickname, were out of town. Stretching a little, he settled in a clear spot on the floor to do a few crunches. No matter what employment or location, Aidrian preferred to stay in top shape. It was almost instinctive, from the predators and prey in his psyche. The creatures in the best condition lived to see another day.
It'd been too long since he'd quit Illusion. He'd had money saved but that was starting to dwindle. He half contemplated seeing if the bookstore was hiring. The one he'd run into those girls at. It was decently close and quieter than a club. It was worth a shot. He let his thoughts drift a little, concentrating on the faint ache of muscles being worked. The carpet was scratchy beneath his bare back and he was reminded again why he'd wished it was changed. Unfortunately there were limits to what he could do to the place. Glancing at the calender mid-crunch, he remembered rent was due in two days and that he probably had just enough for it and one month beyond it. Lovely.
