I think nearly setting my apartment on fire is a sign that I should maybe take a break from working on stuff and try to rejoin the real world. For a little while at least.

Hi new people.

Working. I was trying to build something that would detect ambient energy that might help differentiate between the worlds we all come from. There has to be something that ties us to home. A way for this place to figure out where we belong when it tosses us back home. As far as we know, we all end up back where we came from. No one's ever landed somewhere else before...

Anyway. I stepped away to do something and may have left something on. In my defense I hadn't slept in awhile and I was forgetting things pretty quickly unless I wrote them down.

That sounds pretty complicated. Do you really think that there's something that ties us to home? I know most people want to go home but I don't.

Have you slept now though? It definitely sounds like you need to get out a bit more.

I have a lot of free time to dedicate to overly complicated ventures and possible dead ends. I think there has to be something that ties us to home. I'm not sure what it is but science is a lot of trial and error. If I end up wrong then we know I was wrong and we can look into other things.

If you don't want to go home you shouldn't have to. This is just part of something that might help get people home. If they want it. I believe in people having a choice in the matter.

I have. I tend to ramble when I'm well rested. I'm putting things on hold now and trying to get back out there.

You haven't gotten a job here then? What about figuring out what brought us here? Could you do that? Or are you more interested in what ties us to home at the moment?

It's more I can't go home than not wanting to. If I go home I'm dead. If there was a way to not be dead back home then I'd want to go back but there isn't.

Good. I'm sure your science will still be there after you've taken some time for yourself.

No. I thought about getting a teaching position but haven't actually followed through with it yet. I'm not more interested in finding out what ties us to home so I could definitely change gears.

I understand. Dying back home kind of ruins it.

It will. That's the good thing about science. It's always there for you.

Could you not do both? Teach and look into all the stuff you want to research?

Yeah. I try not to think about it too much.

It's good to have something reliable like that.

You're right. I could do both. I don't have a personal life and teaching a class will definitely force me to step out of my own lab

That's probably a good idea. I'm sorry you died.

Occasionally it feels like the only thing I can actually rely on.

I mean teachers do have lives outside the classrooms so I'm sure you could do both.

Thanks.

I know what you mean.

I was just thinking that teaching will make sure I get out of the lab.

Do you have something like that?

I'm sure it will for a little bit at least.

I do, I have archery. It's been pretty much the one constant in my life.

It's probably good to have some other responsibility to focus on.

That's good. I wonder if Oliver feels the same way about archery.

Just don't try and do too much or you might have another almost fire.

He might do, you'll have to ask him.
