Hello. My name is Vex'ahlia.

I would just like to alert everyone, that yes, I do indeed have an armored bear as my companion. I guarantee that he is quite personable, and lovely and not vicious at all. He is very sweet, and maybe a tad smelly. He won't hurt you, I promise. His name is Trinket, and he does like his hair braided.

Also there is a small dragonite in my possession as well. He's very small and skittish, he won't be a problem either.

If anyone sees a male half-elf with a cloak go by, please tell him that his sister is looking for him.

The bear is yours? He's fantastic. The smell really isn't that noticeable, I've dealt with worse. Did you get him here?

He is. His name is Trinket. I got him from home, though, when he was just a small cub.

Damn, I was hoping they came with the dinosaurs. Trinket's a great name though.

I've been meaning to ask.. dinosaurs are what exactly? Giant lizard things?

Those would be the ones. There's smaller versions too with slightly less teeth. Though they come in bunches and don't like when you walk into them.

Are we allowed to hunt them? I can imagine not.

I didn't ask, but I haven't seen a lot of benefit to it, since no one's short on food and I'm betting they'd taste pretty gamey. We're definitely allowed to defend in an aggressive way when they try to eat us.

I definitely don't want to eat it. Where I'm from though, I'm basically a monster hunter. And they look like monsters.

How do you get into that?

They look more like creatures to me, but there's a thin line sometimes.

I taught myself how to be a ranger, when I was much younger. Then my brother and I found traveling companions. Now we work together to fight dragons. Several of them actually, that have destroyed our home.

I suppose really it comes down to if they attack you first or not.

Dragons are more myths than reality where I come from. But that sounds impressive.

Or if they're doing it out of defensive instinct or just for the hell of it, when they do.

You're quite lucky, in that regard.

Either way, I will be on the lookout.

We have a few things to make up for it.

That's probably smart.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't say that I'm surprised.

I'll try to be.

I'll trade you a Reaper for a dragon sometime, just for novelty.

I usually try too, but some people would say I don't succeed.

And what is a reaper?

Why is that? Sorry for all the questions. You can tell me to bugger off, if you want.

It's complicated and there's different kinds. But probably the easiest explanation is enormous alien machine that wants to kill everything.

I don't mind, ask whatever you want. And I'm just a soldier and I've had to make a lot of decisions that should have been above my paygrade. A lot of them didn't turn out that well.

Does this mean I can ask about dragons, though?

I don't have a whole lot of experience with machines, other than the ones Percy makes, but I do know about things that want to kill everything. It sounds not too different than the dragons, minus the whole scales and living not machine things.

I know the feeling. Though I don't know if I'd call myself a soldier. But maybe, since I was in the beginning of a war, at home.

Of course. I'm something of an expert.

There's not a lot of difference between some machines and living things, in my time. AI's have their own races and personalities, for better or worse. But not a lot of scales. Mostly spare parts.

I was career before the war I'm in, but if you're swept up in one and fighting with a team, you can take the title if you want it. Half my crew were never formally enlisted anywhere either.

Fire breathing real? And wings, yes or no?

That definitely sounds like more complicated machinery than what I know of. I don't even know what an AI is. Is it a machine? A lot of the technology here is quite new to me. I suppose I come from a long time ago.

We didn't have much of a choice. The dragons took over everything, destroyed all the cities. We have to fight back.

Some of them do. Others breathe ice, acid, and all sorts of nasty things. Definitely wings. Massive ones. Which is tricky when you need them to stay in place long enough to defeat them.

I'm from a long time from now. And a different world, or so they tell me. We can both be confused about it, but come from different ends of the spectrum. But the tech from this world is a lot older than ours. An AI is a machine with a mind that learns and adapts and make its own decisions, or at least it can be.

I'm sorry. We didn't have a lot of options where we come from, either.

Are they all hostile?

Did you want to try killing one of the dinosaurs, dear?

Because it has been hours, at least, since we've done something ill advised.

I think at the very least, it would be challenging. I have no doubt of our prowess, but you can never be too careful.

And that is such a shame.

Apparently, from what Harry has told me, they do not have the intellect of dragons. So there's that. And absolutely no magic. Still, they are quite big.

Exactly. I think it is past time we do something remarkably stupid. Don't you?

I like them not having magic. Perhaps we can start with a smaller one.

Oh yes. I need something to shoot, and I suspect you do as well.
