I think this is the first time I've been thankful that I'm just a regular human with nothing exceptional about me whatsoever.

[ Lydia ]

Do you feel different? I mean are things different for you right now?

It has been my experience that there is no such thing as a less than exceptional human. Your species is very stubborn at the very least.

...Which I say as a compliment and not an insult -- it's really one of the better things there is to say about humans -- not that they're aren't plenty of nice things to say about humans -- but -- yes. Humans are an exceptional species. That was my point.

Breathe, Tali. You're fine.

None of that was insulting. Just don't get worked up.

Right yes. Sorry. This is just -- there's a lot to take in here and the technology is very primitive -- which seems appropriate based on the fact that, as I understand it, this place is designed to be a representation of your plants pre-homonid history? Breathing is easy, though the atmospheric processors in the suit seem to a little overclocked due to the abundance of humidity in the air. Do you think this is how the Hanar live?

Also. I'm starting to think Earth might have, at one point in its history, been very close to evolving Krogan.

They're really kind of awful, actually.

Well, I'm awful, but I have one counter argument. No two.

Allura Vysoren.

Fair point. Still. Most humans are horrible.

The same could be said of any species, if a small enough section of them was looked at. There's certainly an element of awfulness to any race, particularly among the xenophobic members of society, but I don't think that makes all humans awful. Just some of them, but that's what low yield electric charges are for. Or punching, but I don't do much of the punching personally.

What is it you dislike about them so much?

I was mostly teasing, honestly. I generally think most people are the worst, regardless of their species. And really, humans are much more tolerable than elves on any given day.

Oh. I see. Well there is plenty of tease-worthy things about humans. At least the ones I know. Particularly dancing.

I'm not familiar with Elves, but I can relate to the sentiment of humans being a generally preferable species over some of the others I do know.

Right. Manners. I am Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, Tali for short.

Dancing is definitely tease-worthy. Though, that's pretty much universal. Anyone that tries to dance tends to look ridiculous.

Think of the most pretentious species you know. And multiple it by ten. And those are elves.

Vax'ildan. Most people just call me Vax. So, hey, same pattern.

It is good to meet you Vax.

I'll have to remember to tell the Commander about the dancing. I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear the news. Some of us are pretty good at it though -- myself included -- but we Quarians are naturally tuned to the rhythm of momentum. It comes from a lifetime spent living on ships aaannnd that is not as relevant.

Yeesh. A more pretentious Hanar -- your species says they're like giant jellyfish -- sounds very unpleasant. Hopefully you do not have to deal with them very often.

Quarian? I think it's my turn to be the one that's unfamiliar.

Actually, I'm not human. Not technically speaking. Though, in my experience, most wouldn't count me as an elf, either. And not much anymore. Growing up, on the other hand. It's one of the drawbacks when your father is one.

If the present technology is any indication, that is of little surprise. We're from well outside the Sol galaxy. I'm an alien basically, but I least I can promise you that I'm generally less pretentious than a hanar and a whiz with technology -- which probably is not a very convincing argument and..

Oh. So your Father is part Elf? And is this were the model of pretentious comes from? I can understand that. To a degree at least. Father's are very...complicated things.

Humans are stubborn, I'll give you that.

I simply meant that being human with no powers is sort of a relief at the moment with everyone who normally has powers being without them.

Amazingly so, I think. It's kind of inspiring how you can look impossible things in the face and threaten them anyway. Or headbutt an alien that could easily fold you into -- oh, what do you humans call it -- the weird twisty dough thing with all the salt?

I can imagine not currently being at a loss is quite nice though, given the stresses that a lot of people seem to be suffering from as a result. Which...given the local wildlife, suddenly being with an innate skill is quite a valid reason for distress I would think. Much like being without a shotgun.

Show up for my first visit on Earth and already there's plenty to do and more that might need shooting. Just another day in the Universe.

And do forgive my terrible manners -- I am Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy.
