About that time, the door to the apartment opened and two children's voices could be heard, full of energy and excitement.
"Mommy, mommy!"
"Mommy!"
"All right, monsters," Clint's voice cut in, "let's give your mom a minute before you attack her. Shoes off and go wash up for dinner. Coop, buddy. Take your brother and get him cleaned up too."
"Yes, daddy," two voices said in unison, punctuated by a baby gurgling and making noises.
Clint made his way into the kitchen, not even noticing Phil right away. His focus was completely on his wife. Maybe that was shitty observation skills for a spy, but Clint tended to leave behind the work when he was at home. Other than that time their home had played host to five Avengers.
"Hey there, gorgeous," he said, pulling Laura into his arms and giving her a lengthy kiss. "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?"
Letting her go, he finally noticed Phil and gave him an easy smile. Guess he finally took him up on that invite. "Hey, Phil," he said easily. "Good to see you."
