Everyone had hangups. Everyone had things they didn't like or couldn't bring themselves to do. It was part of being human. Ray was sure he had his own so he'd always respect Mick's. If there relationship was more than this slightly more than casual but definitely undefinable thing between them he my have been a little more upset. As it stood, however, he understood that there were certain things that Mick just didn't like or that wouldn't fit into the frame of their relationship. Holding hands was definitely one of them so Ray was careful. He tugged on sleeves when he wanted to pull Mick in a certain direction or he nudged him gently when he wanted to initiate some form of contact. There were workarounds for the things the older man hated or couldn't bring himself to do. It mostly involved allowing Mick to initiate a majority of the contact when they were out and about while Ray stuck to his tried and true methods.
As the two of them walked out of the store and towards Mick's waiting jeep Ray shook his head emphatically. "This is different!" He exclaimed. "This is a movie. Your life doesn't have to be on the verge of ending to realize that movies go with junk food. Nothing else works. You can sit in a theater and eat celery or carrot sticks. That's like a crime against nature." That wasn't to say that Mick hadn't been a bad influence on him when it came to things like indulging his sweet tooth. The older man had been encouraging to let go a little. To enjoy the little things in life without worrying too much about the consequences. In spite of feigning reluctance every time it was brought up Ray found himself following through. He did things he wouldn't have before thanks to Mick's encouragement and things just seemed better for it. "I mean. I know it's going to be a lot of calories but I can always work it off later." He fell silent when he realized that could be taken in any number of ways. "In the gym, I mean. I can work it off in the gym."
It wasn't that their sex life wasn unfulfilling in athleticism or that being with Mick in an intimate sort of way wasn't a work out. It was more that the other man's moody silence meant something was up and, as much as Ray liked being a ditraction, he was a friend. He hoped that the other knew that he could talk to him about everything and anything and Ray would listen and would try not to judge. He'd been surprised so far that Mick hadn't mentioned Snart a little more often. It was almost as if he didn't realize that he could talk about the other man without Ray getting upset or jealous. Ray knew that there had to be some sort of feelings between the two older men. He knew they were best friends and important in each other's lives. He wasn't sure what kind of friend he'd be if he couldn't listen to Mick talk about his partner. "Not that being with you isn't the best kind of workout. It's just... you're kind of not completely here. A little grumpy. I just... wanted to make sure you knew that you could talk to me about things if you wanted to. No matter what the subject is." He supposed he could not talk too. That was an option but, in this sort of thing, talking was preferrable.
He settled his hand over the one Mick had placed on his knee but only for a moment, just until Mick started up the jeep and began to drive. "Not sure why you ask when you already know the answer." He chuckled. "We can get what we need for movie night since you already know that I don't have any of that at the apartment." He was a little glad he didn't seem to have a roommate so far. There was no doubt in his mind that sharing a place with someone would complicate thing and that his roommate would probably have something to say about giant tanks or habitats for his future reptillian pet. Especialy considering the fact that they were living in a real life Jurassic Park and he didn't need a lizard or anything because there were actual dinosaurs roaming around outside.
