"Kill each other?" Barry said, baffled. "Len and I have never tried to kill each other, even when we were on opposite sides of things." Len looked as though he might protest, and he rolled his eyes. "You were half-assing it and you know it. If you actually killed me, your life would be boring again and you would hate that." He shook his head at Rip, still baffled. "He mostly just pulled heists to make me pay attention to him and then aggressively flirted and made puns."
Speaking of puns...Barry gave Rip a wide, guileless smile. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Captain Hunter," he said innocently. "Len's puns aren't painful. They're cool." He could have left it there, but honestly a time traveler opened up a door for a whole new set of puns. "Sure, there's a time and a place for them, but you have to admit he's pretty quick witted."
He gave an indelicate snort of laughter at the comment about stick grabbing, less embarrassed now and more on board with embarrassing Rip. "We'd gotten pretty close though," he said, giving his boyfriend a look. "And honestly, we still want to get back to that, so if you could..." He stopped, realizing what Rip Hunter was getting at, and he felt himself getting angrier than he thought he could at the man.
"Wait," he said, forcing his tone to remain even. He could almost feel Len's insecurities growing in the face of Rip's opinion and he hated it. He rested his hand on Len's leg, giving it a squeeze in return, hoping to ease whatever was going on in his head. "You're telling me that you think this is going to cause the timeline to suffer? The fact that I'm happy for the first time since I got my powers is going to somehow break things? I honestly don't see what effect who I'm in love with could possibly on the timeline or whatever you think I'm going to do in the long run, let alone how it's any of your business. But I think you should leave."
